COVID-19 restrictions update for Greater Sydney

Dr Syed Azim: Restrictions will be eased across the Greater Sydney region including Wollongong, Blue Mountains and Central Coast. Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant advised COVID-19 restrictions will be eased across the Greater Sydney region. Following updates will be effective from 12:01am Friday, 29 January:

1. Visitors to households will be increased to 30 guests (including children).
2. Outdoor gatherings will be increased to 50 people.
3. Weddings and funerals will be capped at 300 people.
4. Hospitality venues, places of worship and corporate event venues will be subject to the 1 person per 4 square meters.
5. Smaller hospitality venues will be allowed at least 25 people.
6. Masks will be suggested but no longer compulsory at retail shopping venues.
7. Masks will remain compulsory for hospitality staff, on public transport, in places of worship, hairdressers, beauticians and gaming rooms.
