Biden will legalize 11 million immigrants

Newly elected US President Joe Biden has vowed to take the necessary steps to pass a bill to legalize illegal immigrants. Within 100 days of taking office, it will begin legalizing 11 million illegal immigrants living in the United States.

Biden said the Obama administration’s (DACA) program for more than 600,000 young immigrants, who could not be legalized after coming to the United States illegally as parents as children, but grew up in this country, continues. It will be kept, that is, those under the age of 30 will also get a green card.

President Trump issued an executive order canceling the DACA program. The Supreme Court has stayed that order.

For the first time since 1990, less than half of the unregistered population are illegal immigrants from Mexico. Of the 10.5 million illegal immigrants in 2013, about 4.99 million were from Mexico, 1.9 million from Central America and 1.45 million from Asia, according to Pew Research. Now it has largely increased. About two-thirds of unregistered immigrants have been in the United States for more than 10 years.

Earlier, President Obama raised a comprehensive bill in the US Senate with the same commitment through his Democratic Party on the issue of illegal immigrants. It did not pass because of the extreme non-cooperation of the Republicans.

The last amnesty for illegal immigrants in the United States took place in 1986 under President Reagan. Then 32 years have passed. Thus the number of illegal immigrants has increased.

On the eve of his departure in 2008, Republican President George W. Bush issued another order issuing green cards to those who became illegal immigrants after coming to the United States on visas. However, those who entered the United States illegally did not get a chance. According to Joe Biden’s promise, the fate of one crore and one million will be happy. But it will require a Democrat majority in the US Senate, as well as the House of Representatives.

Democrats have 47 seats in the Senate, up from the November 3 election. 50 Republicans. Georgia’s two-seat runoff election will take place on January 5. Both were Republicans. Political analysts believe that once the Democrats are able to capture them, it will be easier for Biden and the Democrats to do something about the immigration issue. That means Democrats will get the vote of Vice President Camilla Harris if both parties get equal seats. If they can get 51 votes, there will be no problem in passing the immigration bill. Because Democrats are still the majority in the House.

Millions of Bangladeshis have been living illegally for more than two decades. Biden’s latest pledge has also brought some relief to the Corona-stricken community.
