China has warned that despite repeated sanctions, the US government has started playing with fire by deciding to send another official to visit Taiwan.
Kelly Kraft, the US ambassador to the United Nations, has announced that she will pay a two-day visit to the Chinese autonomous island of Taiwan next week. The department said that during the upcoming visit, the US ambassador will announce the US government’s strong support for Taiwan’s presence in the international arena.

The United States is sending its top diplomat to Taiwan at a time when the autonomous island nation is not a state and has no membership in the United Nations. China has full sovereignty over Taiwan and this is internationally recognized. Taiwan’s dissident President Tsai Ing-wen, however, has demanded the island’s independence.
