Among the coronaviruses, five countries in the Middle East and Asia, including British Airways, have shown interest in operating flights to Bangladesh. Civil Aviation says they are interested in operating flights in Bangladesh because of the favorable environment and profitability.
While the global passenger growth rate by air is 5 percent, the number of passengers in Bangladesh is increasing by 7.5 percent every year. According to a survey by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the number of air passengers in the world will double in 2038, but in Bangladesh it will increase three and a half times.
As one of the aviation hubs, so many airlines are showing interest in operating flights in Bangladesh. British Airways has applied to operate flights again after a decade of closure in 2009. Iran, Iraq, Indonesia and South Korea have also offered to operate flights to Bangladesh. Once all the procedures are completed, the interested airlines will be able to operate the flights next year, Civil Aviation said.
